Ember Yard is the fourth restaurant from the Salt Yard group (Salt Yard, Dehesa and Opera Tavern being the first three) specialising in meats cooked on charcoal. The menu consists of charcuterie, cheese and some bar snacks to start before moving on to the main act, the tapas. I tend to focus on the meat section on most menus, but here you’re entirely justified to. The Iberico pressa with whipped Jamon butter is mouthwateringly good. The outside is charred and the inside is pink allowing you to taste the full flavour of the Iberican pork (and then there’s butter made with pork fat to top it off). The larger meat plates to share are also spectacularly good and very sizeable if a bit sickening. The food is definitely not for the faint hearted and would lead to some clogged arteries if you ate here on a regular basis. But, it’s oh so good! The vibe is casual but sophisticated. The wine list is substantially Spanish and Italian, as you would expect, but there’s a good range.
Overall, probably the best tapas in town. Highly recommended.
